Allergen & Gluten-Free Policy -Last updated: [September 2026]
At The GF Club, we believe gluten-free food should be exciting, delicious and something to look forward to.
We also understand how important accurate allergen information is, particularly for people living with coeliac disease, food allergies and intolerances.
This policy explains how we source, store and pack the products included in your GF Club box.
Our gluten-free commitment:
The GF Club is a curated food box service. We source products from reputable wholesalers, food manufacturers and local bakeries.
All food supplied as part of our gluten-free boxes is selected on the basis that it is labelled or otherwise confirmed as gluten-free by the manufacturer or supplier.
In the UK, food described as “gluten-free” must contain no more than 20 mg/kg (20 parts per million) of gluten. We do not manufacture the food products ourselves and we do not alter, open or repackage the food supplied by our manufacturers and suppliers.
Product packaging and ingredients:
Wherever possible, products are supplied in their original, sealed manufacturer packaging.
This means the original product packaging will contain the manufacturer's:
Ingredients list Allergen information
Gluten-free declaration where applicable
Precautionary allergen statements such as "may contain"
Storage instructions
Best-before or use-by information
Please always check the packaging before consuming a product. Ingredients, recipes and manufacturing processes can change, so information from a previous box or an earlier order should not be relied upon.
How we source our products:
We source products from established wholesalers, manufacturers and local food businesses.
Before including a product in a GF Club box, we review the information available to us, including the product's ingredients and allergen information. Where appropriate, we will obtain relevant information directly from the manufacturer or supplier.
We will not knowingly include a product labelled as containing gluten in a box marketed as gluten-free.
Storage and packing:
Our products are stored in a dedicated, segregated storage area within our premises.
Products remain sealed in their original manufacturer packaging.
When preparing your box, we handle the outside packaging only and do not open, portion, decant or otherwise handle the food itself.
Boxes are assembled in a clean and controlled packing area, with reasonable precautions taken to prevent contamination or damage to the sealed products.
Cross-contamination
Although we take precautions during storage and packing, The GF Club does not manufacture the food contained within its boxes.
Our products may have been manufactured in facilities that also handle gluten or other allergens.
For this reason, we cannot guarantee that our boxes or packing environment are completely free from gluten or other allergens.
We will always respect and retain the manufacturer's own allergen and precautionary allergen statements. If a manufacturer states that a product “may contain” gluten or another allergen, this information will not be disregarded when selecting products for our boxes.
The 14 regulated allergens:
UK food law recognises the following 14 regulated allergens:
Celery, cereals containing gluten, crustaceans, eggs, fish, lupin, milk, molluscs, mustard, peanuts, sesame, soya, sulphur dioxide and sulphites, and tree nuts. Allergen information relating to the products in your box will be made available as part of your order information.
Coeliac disease:
We know that many members of The GF Club have coeliac disease, and we take the selection of gluten-free products seriously.
However, because we source products from different manufacturers and suppliers, we cannot control the manufacturing environment in which those products are produced.
We therefore recommend that anyone with coeliac disease checks the packaging and allergen information of every product before consuming it.
If you have any concerns about a particular product, please contact us before eating it.
Food allergies and intolerances:
If you have a food allergy or intolerance, please contact us before placing your order so that we can advise whether our boxes are suitable for you.
For our Personalised Box, we can take your stated preferences and exclusions into account when selecting products.
However, a Personalised Box is not an allergen-free box and cannot be guaranteed to be completely free from a particular allergen.
This is because manufacturers may use shared production facilities or change their ingredients and manufacturing processes.
Allergen information when ordering online:
Because The GF Club sells food online, allergen information is made available to customers before purchase and with the food when it is delivered, in line with UK requirements for distance selling.
Food Standards Agency Science:
We aim to make this information as clear and accessible as possible.
If you're unsure, please ask.
If you are unsure whether a product is suitable for you, please don't eat it until you have checked the ingredients and allergen information.
